Fox reported on a study that fed steak to one group of people and had vegans in another group. They found that the steak contained a substance known as carnitine. Bacteria eat this and burp a chemical known as TMAO which can cause heart attacks. This study was unique in that it shows it is not just the cholesterol that is dangerous. I would love to see the same study with white meats. White meats still have a lot of cholesterol and about 85% of the saturated fat of red meats. I have reported on many studies finding different things in animal protein that can cause serious and deadly diseases in humans. The bottom line is if you really want to avoid illness become vegan. If you can’t do that, decrease your animal protein intake and increase your plant protein intake.
