University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in the journal Clinical Epigenetics says our mothers were correct! Eat your vegetables and stay healthy. Drinking a few cups of green tea a day and about a cup of broccoli can significantly reduce probability of cancer. Vegetables are important. Don’t overcook them and enjoy a variety of vegetables.

A study reported by CTV News on Health says brussels sprouts, broccoli, cabbage and soy beans may be part of an “Epigenetic Diet” that can prevent cancer. In a study at the University of Alabama (UAB) they found the substances in many plant-based foods can prevent cancer and other illnesses. These foods cause the suppression of genes that can cause fatal illnesses. The past 6 BLOGS I did were on a doctor and surgeon that have found vegetarian based diets to be very healthy. Here is another university study finding the power of epigenetics is our hands. Use it wisely and live a healthy life. The UAB team describes their Epigenetic Diet as the following foods:

I have spoken a lot about diet and epigenetics and various diseases in this BLOG. The concept that plant-based diets can be a varied benefit to our health is becoming mainstream. The University of Alabama has done a lot of studies in this area. They decided to combine a huge number of studies that they did as well as studies from other universities and found a correlation between eating vegetables and green tea and preventing cancers. Some day in the not to distant future, we will all know this as positive as we now know that smoking causes cancer. In the meantime those of us that are not eating large amounts of vegetables are playing Russian Roulette! Is your gun loaded with one, two, or more bullets?
