Our Thoughts are Important

Week 54: The Nocebo Effect

Week 54: The Nocebo Effect (Photo credit: WilliamsProjects)

We have discussed this idea on this BLOG before. Your thoughts shape who you are, how healthy you are, how you feel, etc. Think carefully, you may get what you think about. Negative people tend to find other negative people. Positive people tend to find other positive people. We know the placebo and nocebo effect is very real. The placebo effect works as good if not better than drugs. Another BLOG that I watch listed three important things to consider in our thoughts:

  1. You cannot change the past, but the future Is up to you
  2. Where you spend your time defines your life
  3. Be Grateful

Love is a powerful force. I believe we have love and we have lack of love. Lack of love shows up as hatred, anger and evil. The more you love the more you will associate with people who also love. Worrying about illness causes illness. Be positive and be loving. Watch what happens to your life!

Dr Greger says these berries are effective in reduction of cancer cells. They seem to be healthy agents. 2011 was the first year they did studies on people using Acai Berries. It seems it reduced pain but it could have been due to the placebo effect. It can be harmful in some if you have low blood sugar. Supplements are not regulated! If you want the positive effects, eat the fruit don’t take the supplement.

Cells give off messages to other cells that cause them to do different things. Our environment causes us to react and “Play” different notes on our DNA. AG Scientific says we have always kept science apart from love and nurture but they may actually be a part of the same thing. Our interpretation of the environment determines which programs or notes to play in our genes. So if two people experience the same disease and one is totally depressed and resigned to it, they probably will die from it. The other person is positive, tries to imagine his or her body fighting off the disease and may actually accomplish just that. This is the NOCEBO and PLACEBO effects. Watch how you think about situations like work, the kids, health, politics, etc.  Bruce Lipton says “You are all powerful. You have power over the unfoldment of your life. You have power over which genes that are going to be activated.”
New articles on Placebo & Nocebo effects say it is dependent on our genes. I don’t believe this because our genes are only important if they are activated. What activates them? Epigenetics and more specifically our environment activates them. So these effects happen because of how we react to our environment. How we think, what we eat, etc.

Our Thoughts Control Our Mind

Robert Stuberg, one of the world’s leading authorities on personal and professional success, says, “Your thoughts control your life and you control your thoughts.” Think about that for a while! If we think positive, positive things will happen but if we think negatively, negative things will happen. But we control our own thoughts. Scientists have known about placebo and Nocebo effects for a long time. Yes, we are influenced by our parents, our schooling, our society, etc but ultimately we control our thoughts. What kind of thoughts do you have?

The five senses

Image via Wikipedia

We are all subjected to an endless stream of news, opinions and theories. Does hearing these ideas cause us to believe in them? Do we believe we are going to be sick because of all the drug ads we see? Do we believe getting old equates to illness? Our minds are powerful processors that give us what we really want. If we hear things over and over again from a supposedly knowledgeable source, we begin to believe it. Does our mind then cause it to become reality because we think it’s true? God said we could move mountains with pure faith. Maybe He was referring to “we can do anything if we believe strong enough”. Placebos and Nocebos happen all the time because the patient believes. We know our knowledge of this world is from our five senses but they aren’t a reality in and of themselves. Our senses cause our brains to interpret the inputs and create a reality within us. Maybe the sensory overload we are all going through with our TVs, Radios and Computers are causing us to believe in very negative things because we hear them all the time. STOP! Back up and ask yourself what you really believe in. Minimize inputs that are of a negative nature. Newspaper headlines are always negative because negativity sells! Think about positive things in your life and be thankful for them. We are what we think so think positively.
