Why do we get sick?

With the power of nature and our epigenetics, why can’t our bodies adjust and keep us healthy? Nature takes millions of years to adjust to changes. Normally changes come slowly. When they o come fast they wipe out a major part of a species and those left need to adjust rapidly or go extinct. Both scenarios occur all the time. We are making changes to our bodies and environment at a very rapid degree. Our epigenetics tries to adjust but some of the changes cause conditions that can not be overcome! Take a diet that turns ON cancer genes and turns OFF tumor fighting genes. This makes it near impossible to fight the disease.

We have changed our environment in so many ways:

  1. Global warming
  2. Processed foods
  3. Not enough consumption of plants
  4. Stressful lives
  5. Negative thinking and beliefs
  6. Little or no exercise

This causes our bodies to be overwhelmed to the extent that our bodies become ill. All of these things are choices we all have. Make the right choice and you have a higher probability of health and extended life. Make the wrong ones and that probability drops rapidly. What choices do you make on the above items? How is your healthy? How many medications are you on? Choose wisely.

If  our bodies are so smart and are programming each cell based on our environment, why are so many people getting sick? It’s because we are changing the environment so drastically in such a short period of time. Never before has our bodies had to deal with such drastic change. It is over powering. This causes disease and a failure of the cells in general. When the failure is massive, it causes death!

Think of how we have changed our environment in the last 100 years. We are eating much more animal protein and much less plant protean. Er are eating pesticides and preservatives because our food is packaged and not fresh. Our air is not clean and the ozone layer is emitting more harmful rays. As i this wasn’t enough, we are in a constant state of stress. Money, jobs, family, health; it all leads to a very stressful life style.

Stress, poor nutrients, chemicals and harmful rays cause massive epigenetic changes to our cells. In many cases it’s more than they can handle. This failure to handle the changes is called disease. What is interesting is we have a choice! We can eat differently, buy less processed foods, live a less stressful life, be happy with who we are and what we have. The choice is yours. Health or disease? What do you choose?

 

Plant-Based Diet Reverses Heart Disease

PCRM (Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine) says not only can you prevent heart decease with a plant-based diet but if you already have it, you can reverse it! 198 patients with cardiovascular decease were put on a diet free of meat, fish, diary and added oils. 89% of the participants followed the diet and 81% improved their disease. In addition these patients lost an average of 18.7 pounds. 22% saw a complete reversal of the disease.

Disease is our bodies way of saying we are providing it with inferior food and air. It can no longer function properly so it begins to break down. Like a city that breaks down, you can decide to change it. Clean it up and revitalize it again. Is your body working with inferior products?

 

How’s Your Libido?

Everyone wants great sex! It is a part of our inner most brain. Modern society with our poor diets and lack of exercise and stress can cause our sex drive to move into low gear. How do we get it back in high gear? Diet is important since cholesterol can block veins and cause a man to be impotent. Exercise keeps us in shape as well. The Therapy Book lists the top ways to keep your sex drive in high gear.

They list the top ten things we can eat to keep us on track sexually:

  • AVOCADOS
  • ALMONDS
  • STRAWBERRIES
  • FIGS
  • EGGS
  • OYSTERS
  • NUTS AND SEEDS
  • WATERMELON
  • BLACK RASPBERRIES/BLACKBERRIES
  • GINSENG TEA

The only one I disagree with is eggs! They are high in cholesterol. Go to the link above to read what each of these does. Diet is not just about losing weight but being healthy and enjoying a great sex life. Happy eating!

 

Black Nigella Seeds

A great boost to your immune system and your health is the use of Black Nigella Seeds (also known as black cumin, black coriander or black onion seeds). An article in the Therapy Book lists all sorts of cures by using these seeds. There are 20 listed uses of these seeds including:

1. Type 2 diabetes – Researchers found that just two grams daily of black seed could result in reduced fasting blood sugar levels, along with decreased insulin resistance, and increased beta-cell function in the pancreas.
2. Epilepsy – Published in Medical Science Monitor, one study found black seed to be effective at reducing the frequency of seizures in children who resisted conventional treatment. Black seed indeed has anti-convulsive properties.
3. Colon Cancer – In cell studies, black seed has been found to have anti-cancer properties, inhibiting the growth of colon cancer cells specifically. In one animal study, the seed was able to fight colon cancer in rats successfully with no observable side effects. The same obviously can’t be said for conventional cancer treatments.
4. MRSA – The deadly and antibiotic-resistant bacterial infection known commonly as MRSA responded favorably to treatment with black seed in this study from the University of Health Sciences in Lahore, Pakistan.
5. Protection Against Heart Attack Damage – An extract from black seed has been shown to possess heart-protective qualities, dampening damages associated with heart attacks and boosting overall heart health.
6. Breast Cancer – A few studies have linked a thymoquinone extract from nigella sativa to reduced breast cancer tumor growth and increased apoptosis (cell death) in breast cancer cells.
7. Brain Cancer – A study published in the online journal PLoS One indicates thymoquinone from black seed can induce cell death in glioblastoma cells. Glioblastoma is one of the most aggressive brain tumors of all.
8. Leukemia – As it’s been shown to do with other types of cancer, black seed compound thymoquinone has also been shown to induce apoptosis in leukemia cells.
9. Brain Damage from Lead – A study published in Experimental and Toxicologic Pathology indicates black seed is able to dampen and reverse damage to the brain sparked by lead toxicity.
10. Oral Cancer – Research indicates thymoquinone from nigella sativa is able to induce cell apoptosis in oral cancer cells.
11. High blood pressure – Published in the journal Fundamentals of Clinical Pharmacology, researchers found extract from black seed to cause a significant decrease in LDL cholesterol and blood pressure, offering a natural treatment for mild forms of hypertension.
12. Asthma – Multiple studies, including this one published in the journal Phytomedicine, has found Nigella sativa to possess anti-asthmatic effects. One even found it superior to conventional drug treatment.
13. Sore throat – Research indicates that black seed is an effective treatment for acute tonsillopharyngitis with tonsil or throat tissue inflammation. Basically, it can relieve viral sore throats.
14. Radiation Damage Control – The active compound thymoquinone has been found to protect brain tissue from radiation-induced damage. Researchers say the substance is able to “clearly protect brain tissue from radiation-induced nitrosative stress.”
15. Morphine Addiction and Toxicity Prevention – A study published in Ancient Science of Life found Nigella sativa to reduce the indications of morphine intoxication, tolerance, and addiction. Could this seed be the answer to opiate dependence?
16. Protection Against Chemical Weapons – Researchers from Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in Iran found a tincture of Black seed able to reduce the symptoms of chemical weapons exposure including wheezing, respiratory symptoms, and even the need for drug treatment.
17. Post-Surgical Scar Prevention – Tested on areas of post-operative trauma, Nigella sativa was found to protect peritoneal surfaces from scarring or adhesion formation.
18. Psoriasis – Applied topically to psoriasis inflammation, black seed was able to increase epidermal thickness and soothe eruptions.
19. Parkinson’s Disease – An extract of thymoquinone, from black seed, was shown to protect neurons from toxicity associated with Parkinson’s disease and dementia in a study published in Neuroscience Letters.
20. Cervical Cancer – In a cervical cancer cell line, extracts of thymoquinone were able to trigger apoptosis or cell death, slow cancer progression, and stop the spread of the cancer.

Does Ancient Healing Methods Work?

Healing illnesses and preventing new ones is as old as humans! There have been many different methods used. The Therapy Book says Our current practice of health care is based upon what is called allopathic medicine. The premise of allopathic medicine is the use of “opposites” to heal the body.” We don’t really address the cause of the disease but try to prevent the symptoms. Take for example a common fever. Our bodies cause a fever to kill invading viruses. It is the bodies main defense. The root problem is the virus. By taking aspirin we lower our temperature (the symptom) and allow the virus to survive. Obviously if our fever is high enough we need to take actions to lower it.

The ancient Egyptians recognized the importance of a healthy diet unlike their modern counterparts. This BLOG has been about just that! How do we eat really healthy and avoid disease. If we are sick what role does diet play in healing it? Modern biology has the study of epigenetics which turns our genes ON or OFF. One combination can give us cancer while another can make us totally healthy. Diet plays a major role in triggering epigenetic reactions. Does your diet make you sick or healthy?

 

New Research on Preventing Cancer

The PCRM (Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine) post new research on cancer and recommendations for avoiding it. The recommendations are pretty much what this BLOG is about. Avoid alcohol, dairy, red and processed meats and meats cooked at a high temperature. On the positive side they recommend eating many more vegetables and fruits. The question of “White” meats was not addressed. I believe they are dangerous as well since they contain 85% of the saturated fats of red meats. If you can’t give up meat totally, cut way back on it! Eat more plant based foods. Learn new recipes that use plants instead of meat. Eat fruits for desserts instead of sugary foods.

The evil in our diets are Saturated Fats, processed Sugars, and Salt! Americans consume way too much of these three evils. The result is a population that is mostly sick. Cure yourself and your families by changing your diet.

 

Vegetarians – Where Do You Get Your Protein?

As a vegetarian, I am always asked “Where do you get your protein?”. All food is made of protein! Every cell in every animal, vegetable and fruit are made of protein. A recent study, as reported by Dr Greger in his video below, shows that all Americans, carnivores, vegetarians and vegens get more protein than they need on a daily basis. Too much protein can be toxic and affect the kidneys and liver. So put to rest this question once and for all. We are all getting enough protein in our diets.

Dr Greger asks a more important question, “Where do you get your fiber?”. 97% of Americans are DEFICIENT in fiber! This is a major concern to your health. Some Americans think that steak gives them fiber. This is false. By definition, fiber ONLY comes from plant foods. If you are not eating enough vegetables and fruits, you are NOT getting enough fiber!

Dr Greger says YES! Most diseases are avoidable! Eating right, not being obese and not smoking cut our risk of chronic disease by 78%! Think what that means. Our healthcare drops in cost drastically. Our cost of health care is reduced drastically. We live longer and our last 20 years on Earth are more enjoyable. Do you want to be active and enjoy your kids and grandkids or be unable to walk or do anything and be bed ridden with a disease? It is your choice. Every major study shows the same results. When I talk to most doctors about this, they say yes a vegan diet will keep you healthy but no one wants to give up meat so I don’t say anything. This reminds me of when I was younger and at an annual physical with my doctor. I asked him about smoking. He said it’s not unhealthy if it was more people would be dying. He was a smoker and is now dead of lung cancer. How many people have to die before we learn?

Eat right and stay healthy.

 

If You Eat Fish, don’t buy Farmed!

There are so many toxins in farmed fish, it should be avoided. Dr Greger says being obese brings back these pollutants from our own fat. So we need to be aware where we buy our foods and keep our bodies lean. Our fat stores bad chemicals that can make us sick for a long long time. These toxins are stored in our fat cells. As the fat cell is used, it releases the toxins back into our body. Everything seems to be polluted today and we can’t avoid it 100% but we should be aware so when there is a choice, we choose the best option. Vegans have the best results here since they do not eat any fish or animal protein.
