What we believe is manufactured!

We live in a society where we watch TV and commercials and begin to believe what we hear. It becomes a fact in our minds. Other people talk about it and it supports our beliefs. So much of what we believe is based on marketing not facts. Here are some:

  1. Protein equates to meat! Meat does have protein in it but so does every living organism including all fruits & vegetables. Everything living is made of cells. The cell walls and machinery is made of proteins.
  2. We need to eat a lot of protein to be healthy. This is false. We definitely need protein but a relatively small amount. Extra protein is toxic to our bodies and must be handled by kidneys and liver. This is why excess meat-eating causes cancers to these organs.
  3. Old age equates to illness. This is so false. Some countries (that eat much healthier than we do) live longer and healthier their whole lives. Illness is a failure of our basic systems nothing to do with age. We do slow down as we age and eventually will die but we can live health to the end.
  4. We are living longer these days. This we hear on TV all the time. Drug companies say it is because of modern medicine (drugs). It is not true. Statistics show the top age we obtain has not changed in thousands of years. The average age has gone up. This is because accidents, attacks by predators, etc has significantly decreased. Drugs may keep us alive a little longer but the quality of live is poor.
  5. The medical community and drug companies will help keep me alive longer. FALSE! if this were true why is 45% of Americans dying of disease? If you are concerned about your health … Change your diet, lower your stress, think positive and believe in yourself.

How I got Started in Epigenetics

DNA and how it affects us has been a long time passion for me. In college I studied Physics. I remember the scientists of that time said “once we understand the DNA codes, we will know everything about life!” Of course this was false. The more we learned the more questions we had. At first epigenetics was ignored but later it became apparent that epigenetics was so much more important than genetics. It was a system that turns ON and OFF your genetics. This is very much like a computer comparing hardware to software. Software is so much more important than hardware but it couldn’t work without the hardware. Software turns on hardware instructions in a certain order thus creating the a program

Years later I studied everything I could find on epigenetics and wrote my book, “Food for Thought“. It was an attempt to document all the available knowledge on epigenetics that affects our health. It was written for the general population although many doctors and scientists read my BLOG and ask me questions. It was clear that epigenetics was affected by diet, stress, thought and belief. We are social animals that interact with our environment. This interaction can cause both positive and negative health effects.

The most import thing to remember is “YOU ARE IN CONTROL OF YOUR HEALTH!” Thinks about that! Now read my research in the back of the book and watch the videos on my video tab. Try to lead a life:

  1. Free of stress (as much as possible)
  2. Watch your diet (eat more vegetables & fruits)
  3. Be positive (put out of your mind all negative thoughts)
  4. Believe in yourself

You will find your weight down, your health improved and your sex life better.

The more sugar we eat the more we need to get a dopamine response. This numbing effect causes us to want more and more sweets. Dr Greger says obesity might be a mental disorder. We keep eating sweets even though we know it’s bad for us. It turns out not only sweets are addictive but the whole class of fatty foods. Meats, cheese, milk, etc. The effect this has on our brain lowers other pleasures in life, like sex. If you want to live a better and happier life you need to got off your addictions!

Sweetness from natural fruits is different! Nature packs its sweetness into fiber causing the sugars to be released over time like a time capsule. This prevents spiking and the negativity associated with sugar. Learn to enjoy the natural sweetness of fruits.

Update on Milk and Casein

A reader commented on my BLOG yesterday (see comments) that soy and almond milks can contain casein. It is always best to read the labels and know the names of the things to watch out for. The label won’t say milk but it does say casein. If you have any other products that people think are vegan but are not, please let me know.

Milk could be “death in a bottle” and we mostly think of it as healthy and good for our kids. So many cancers are linked to it. Switch today and help save your family’s health!

Health information is confusing at best. We read about studies that say something is bad for you then another study says it’s good for you. People get frustrated and eat what they want. This is what large groups like the Meat packers, Diary Industry, etc want. Always remember corporations are making big money from meat, dairy products and sugar. They are protecting their industries by finding studies that support their products as good for you.

Doctors are not dietitians. At most they take one elementary class and it’s on baby diets. Their normal classes are from books paid for by big drug companies. Instead of learning the cause of illnesses, they learn how to identify a symptom and then prescribe a drug. No one is looking for cures! If we were to cure heart disease, cancer or even any of the dementia’s the drug companies would lose billions. Health is BIG BUSINESS in America!

Some rules to govern your life and your health:

  1. Understand big business’ influence on you
  2. Understand that TV commercials are powerful and influence you to buy. Watch a drug commercial. As they are talking about serious side effects including death, they are showing a loving couple or parents with kids living a happy life. This subliminal message causes you to want this solution.
  3. Understand that doctors will not have cures but drugs for you to take. They are NOT evil, they just don’t understand. You don’t have to take drugs for all problems.
  4. Do your own research on side effects of drugs, way it against health and life.
  5. Do research on what a proper diet, positive thinking and lowered stress can do for your health. This BLOG is dedicated to bringing this information to you.
  6. Understand that you are NOT controlled by your DNA. You can change bad effects via epigenetics through changes to diet, thinking and stress.
  7. Health is a matter of your choice! Choose wisely. You can be healthy or sick, it’s up to you.

You should NOT do what I write about because I write about it. I am only bringing messages from scientific groups and informed doctors to you. I bring it to you in my book and this BLOG. An eBook version of my book is about $3 and this BLOG is free. Read it, think about it and do your own research. Then make an informed decision. What is at stake is your family’s health and happiness as well as your own.

This is part 2 on what is epigenetics. All our stem cells have exactly the same DNA but as epigenetics “expresses” certain genes they become unique and very different cell types. Like muscle, heart, skin, etc. Each stem cell becomes one type of cell in our bodies. Once it is transformed it and all its descendants remain that cell type.

Nature is our DNA and what is hard programmed into us but Nurture is that part of epigenetics that is changeable by what we eat, how we think, what we believe and how much stress we have in our lives. I use the example of a computer a lot in my BLOGs but a piano is a great example as well. The keys are our DNA (hard-wired for a sound) but the pianist “plays” the piano by hitting (expressing a key and a sound) and the order that keys are played. This gives us the infinite different types of piano music we have.

Our bodies and our DNA is very much like a modern computer. I have said on this BLOG before that our DNA is like the instruction set of a computer (the hardware) and our epigenetics is like the software. Epigenetics “Plays” DNA to accomplish things more sophisticated than the DNA itself. Computer software “Plays” the hardware to accomplish things more sophisticated than the hardware. The analogy goes even farther. Computers using both software and hardware do interesting and useful things but can not do much without influence from its environment (data). A banking program needs a database to get at customer information, to change account balances, etc. It also has a user interface that lets a human control it. These external influences cause it to execute a series of tasks that become useful to us or a company.

The bodies DNA and epigenetics is similar. On its own it doesn’t do much but under the influences of its environment (data) it can do unbelievable things. Our environment is our food (nutrients, vitamins, minerals and fat), our positive or negative thinking (placebo or nocebo) and our belief’s (What we truly believe can happen). These external influences are data input to our cells. The cells then turn genes (DNA strings) ON or OFF via epigenetics. THis causes the cell to do what it needs to do (make another cell, produce more blood, create hormones, etc.). It also allows cells to communicate within themselves as well as to other cells in our body. This network and the programming is very sophisticated. Stress also affects our epigenetics. Living a stress free life is difficult in modern times but is important to health and happiness.

It is the sophistication that makes us different from the chimps. They have almost the same DNA as us but much different epigenetics. The programming makes the animal! Just like a simple program that adds two numbers uses the same instruction set (DNA) as a sophisticated video program but they produce very different results.

We are what we eat, how we think, what we believe and how much stress we have in our lives! Living this way produces a human that is happy and healthy. Living the opposite way produces one that is unhappy and sick.  Your choice!

Vegetables, as Socrates said, are our medicine. Nature gave us vegetables & fruits to energize our bodies, protect them from invading diseases and provide the necessary nutrients for life. Without them we are running on dirty and inefficient fuel. It is only a matter of time until our bodies break down. Then we live with disease or die.

The Harvard School of Public Health publicized a study that concluded we should eat our vegetables and plenty of them. It concluded that plant life helps lower the risk, prevent and even improve the flowing:

  1. Cardiovascular diseases
  2. Cancer
  3. High Blood Pressure
  4. Gastrointestinal Health
  5. Vision

Can anyone justify not eating plants? So much is at stake. Simply doing what grandma knew can improve your life substantially. Why risk so much?

The study goes on to say eat plenty of vegetables & fruits. What does plenty mean? More than most Americans eat. This is the single reason so many Americans are sick and die prematurely. It is NOT old age. It is bad fuel!

Food Mythbusters” is trying to take advertisements for unhealthy foods off our TVs and out of our schools.  Our kids are being systematically targeted by these corporations to increase their profits. The result is 1/3 of our children are getting diabetes, cancer and other food related illnesses. They are being drugged with sugar and fat to increase their addiction to these foods and increase the profits of these corporations. They are spending mega bucks on TV ads and school programs to get close to our kids. They are also targeting our government through lobbing to reduce laws against what they are doing. Color does Matter

An artist will tell you how important colors are. Blending them together will yield beautiful and sometimes unusual colors. Our bodies need nutrients that are blended together to provide coverage for different situations. A healthy body is one that receives a variety of nutrients that allow the body to do its work and remain healthy. These different nutrients come from plant life of different colors. You should be eating a wide variety of colors in your plant food, Here is a list of colors and what they help do for our bodies. There are some foods in each category but this is not an exhaustive list. Explore and try different foods in each color group.

Juicing Vegetables on Facebook says:

  1. White – Strengthens our immune system – garlic & cauliflower
  2. Green – detoxified – broccoli, spinach, beans  & green apples
  3. Red – Improves heart and blood system – tomatoes, strawberries, & raspberries
  4. Yellow – Fortifies the skins elasticity – bananas & lemons
  5. Orange – Prevents cancers – pumpkin & oranges
  6. Purple – Increases longevity – eggplant

Imagine if you ate from this group of plant foods each day. You would have a strong immune system that could resist colds and other diseases, detox your body so it would be healthier, improve your blood flow that provides oxygen to every cell, have younger looking more elastic skin, prevent cancer and increase your life. Eat well, live long and enjoy a healthy life …
