With the power of nature and our epigenetics, why can’t our bodies adjust and keep us healthy? Nature takes millions of years to adjust to changes. Normally changes come slowly. When they o come fast they wipe out a major part of a species and those left need to adjust rapidly or go extinct. Both scenarios occur all the time. We are making changes to our bodies and environment at a very rapid degree. Our epigenetics tries to adjust but some of the changes cause conditions that can not be overcome! Take a diet that turns ON cancer genes and turns OFF tumor fighting genes. This makes it near impossible to fight the disease.
We have changed our environment in so many ways:
- Global warming
- Processed foods
- Not enough consumption of plants
- Stressful lives
- Negative thinking and beliefs
- Little or no exercise
This causes our bodies to be overwhelmed to the extent that our bodies become ill. All of these things are choices we all have. Make the right choice and you have a higher probability of health and extended life. Make the wrong ones and that probability drops rapidly. What choices do you make on the above items? How is your healthy? How many medications are you on? Choose wisely.

My brother, Ray, told me about this article by Katie Couric on junk food. Watch the video at this site. We are being hijacked into buying junk food. This article says:
It’s a quote from Dr. David Kessler, who was the commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration from 1990 to 1997, where he worked extensively on enforcing tobacco regulations. But now he’s turned his attention on the next great American health crisis — how and what we eat. It’s the subject of the eye-opening new film “Fed Up” from executive producers Katie Couric (Yahoo’s global news anchor) and Laurie David (“An Inconvenient Truth”)
We can’t watch TV, listen to the radio, walk down the street or drive without marketing hijacking our brains. The two biggest hijackers are drugs and food. Yes we need to eat food but most is junk food and processed foods that have more chemicals in them than nutrients. This hijacking has caused the biggest epidemic of illness in our nations history. We are loosing and will continue to lose more Americans to drug reactions and improper diet than all the wars combined. Why? Greed! Drugs and the food industry are big business.

The PCRM (Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine) says obesity among our children is on the rise. A study by National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) indicates that obesity for children ages 2 to 19 is increasing. What are we doing to our children? It is one thing for an adult to live a style that leads to obesity but to do this to our children is wrong! We know that sweets, sugar, salts, fried foods and processed foods (most of what Americans eat) is the cause. Take control back of your shopping and kitchens! Buy more fruits and vegetables, buy organics, Don’t buy processed (frozen, canned or boxed) and stop frying foods. Reduce drastically the amount of fast foods in your children’s diets. If you don’t, they will be burdened with weight problems their entire lives.
Obesity leads to many diseases like High Blood Pressure, Cholesterol issues, Heart disease, cancer and Diabetes. These are the top killers of Americans. Who will protect your children from these killers if you don’t? Having these conditions requires medication which leads to many other side effects.

Dr Greger says “NO!” Watch the informative video below. Americans are bossed with lowering their waist lines. Many things, says Dr Greger, can lower your waistline including: An all diet of twinkies, chemo therapy but he says the goal is not to fit into a thinner casket but live with less weight. We were and still are into calories but calories don’t tell the whole story. A high calorie diet of fried foods vs a high calorie diet of fruits and vegetables are quite different. Yes keeping the waist line down is important but so is health and being alive.
Low carb diets are the rage but are they good for you? The answer seems to be NO! Low carb diets destroy our arteries allowing heart diseases to prevail. Don’t be taken in by the latest fad. Don’t look for quick fixes, they don’t exist. Here are some things to consider:
- Is your diet primarily made up of animal protein (meat, eggs, butter and cheese)? Consuming animal protein of more than 10% of your total calorie intake can lead to cancer and heart disease. – The China Study
- Is your diet primarily made up of processed foods. Eating at chain or fast food restaurants, canned, boxed or frozen foods. Even things that seem healthy like baby carrots are processed and unhealthy. if what you eats grown, it’s good for you.
- Is your diet primarily made up of sweets, fried foods, salty foods and fast foods? If so you are starving your body of much needed nutrients.
We need fats, carbs and nutrients for proper health. That doesn’t mean eat all the fats you want. Start teaching your family what healthy eating is. Show them by your example. You will trim down, be healthier, have better sex and be happier.

On Monday I BLOGged on How Much Exercise we Need. Exercise is very important for many reasons. If you eat a very bad diet, you can not exercise your way to a slim body. If you are already slim, you may be able to maintain it. Exercising without a good diet will not save you from diseases. Look at how many athletes get cancer or die of a heart attack. We must find a combination of exercise and diet if we want to maintain our health.
The plant kingdom evolved with us over millions of years. All the nutrients we need that are missing from our bodies is contained in plants (fruits & vegetables). Modern medicines are based on nutrients found in plants. They are synthesized not actually taken from plants. We need plants to survive in this world.
Now fast forward to current time! The SAD (Standard American Diet) is a sad diet. Most Americans are eating less and less plants and more and more meat, sugars and salt. This type of diet will kill most people eating it. If you really want to protect your family, start improving your diet and start a family exercise program. It can be as simple as walking together.
