I am sick of hearing “Where do you get your protein?”

Protein Science

Vegans and vegetarians hear this all the time! It is so ridiculous how the media has us conditioned. First we must have protein. This is true but in small amounts. Large quantities are toxic. Second we can only get protein from animal products (meat, cheese, milk and eggs) WRONG WRONG WRONG! Every organic food (plant or animal) is made of cells which are made of protein. If you believe either or both of these, readjust your thinking. Get educated.

I found another BLOG that discuss this frustration. Read it!

Dr Greger says millions suffer from painful fibromyalgia. Both vegetarian diets and vegan diets help but vegan diets helped the most. This 20 year study was done by the Mayo Clinic. Animal protein causes inflammation and inflammation can lead to diseases and cancer. Drugs are not the answer, plants are! If you seuffer from this terrible disease give plants a chance. You have nothing to loose except your pain.

Dr Greger says a diet of plant based foods will improve your dental health. Remember animal based diets lead to inflammation which can cause dental problems. Oral cancer is less likely with a plant based diet (as are almost all cancers). Eating the way we were designed (not the way we want to eat) allows our bodies to grow healthy, fight disease and live longer. We evolved as primarily plant based eaters with occasional animal foods. Americans today are primarily animal based food eaters and diets high in fats. It is no wonder chronic illness has progressed to such alarming levels. How do you eat? Better yet how do you feed your loved ones?

Vegan and cheese in the same sentence? What’s up? Vegan Mainstream is running a photo contest for the best looking vegan cheeses (non diary cheese). If you are vegan or simply trying to get back on saturated fats and calories from cheese; check out this article. As more people move towards a vegan diet, vegan meats and cheeses are becoming more appetizing. You can have your cake and eat it. In this case it’s having your cheese and eating it.

Dr. Greger is back with a video on the positive effects of plants (Phytonutrients) on toxic chemicals we ingest. The study shows that plant may have a dual role in protecting us from toxins: 1) they have far less toxins in them than do animal based products and 2) they may protect us from some toxins we get from animal based products. Mom was right, “Eat your veggies!”

Eating is pleasurable. It includes many facets like smell, appearance, texture and taste. We taste mostly through our noses as smell. When we chew food it causes odors to go into our nasal cavity and we experience this as taste. Vegan diets must include great appearances, good smells, great taste and a desirable texture. Buy a book on vegan cooking or take classes and learn more about how healthy food can be fun and tasty. You will enjoy watching your guests like what you serve and not miss meat.

Dr. Greger talks about passages in Daniel (1 verses 8-16)that teach people to eat a diet devoid of meat. Eating only fruits and vegetables. This is what we call today a vegan diet. A study was down to determine the effects of a 21 day Daniel diet. Participants enjoyed a positive reduction in blood pressure, insulin levels and cholesterol levels. Dr Michael Gregor MD has this impressive video from CDC data on the largest study ever done on vegetarianism and health. He lists the top 16 causes of death (Drug reactions show up at end of video as #6) and shows evidence that all, except one – accidents, can be lessened by a vegan diet. More than half can be reversed or improved by a vegan diet. The video is 55 minutes long but if you invest 55 minutes of your time, you may extend your life span and illuminate needless suffering in your life and your families. WATCH IT! It is entertaining, informative and well done. It is up to you, you can be healthy or sick. Choose wisely! Over the next several days I will be talking about different aspects of this important video.

Dr Fuhrman’s position on animal products is clear, consume it and you will get sick. In an article in “Disease Proof – Eat smart & Live happy”, says:
• Low fat diets do NOT help lower cholesterol unless you also eliminate animal fat.
• Red meat is NOT the only problem. Consumption of fish and chicken are associated with colon cancers.
• Chicken has about the same amount of cholesterol as beef.
• 15 different studies showed that consumption of processed meats led to an increase in stomach cancer risk of 15% to 38%.
When will we learn how to really eat healthy?

Be Like a Vegetarian and Live Longer

The Bill Clinton SmoothieAbout.com wrote a series on how to increase your longevity. The number one way was to be like a vegetarian. This means:

a) Fewer bad fats
b) More antioxidants
c) Lower weight

All of these are typical of vegetarians that are not junk food vegetarians. You must cut back or eliminate all animal products, you must actually eat your vegetables and you must not eat just vegetarian junk food. You can eat French fries, potato chips and certain cookies and be vegetarian but you will gain weight, get none of the benefits of plant based foods like antioxidants and fiber.
