If you haven’t read it yet, Do so now! Get the history behind epigenetics and its influence on our health. The back of the book contains hundreds of references. Do your own research. Americans are getting sicker by the day. Modern medicine doesn’t have the answers obviously. Only you can change your health and your families. This book arms you with information that enables you to research and determine what changes are correct in your life and diet.
This will be my last BLOG on here. It has been fun and educational. To all of you that told me it helped cure a decease of a loved one or yourself…thanks. There is a ton of material in this BLOG to go through and my book “Food for Thought, An Epigenetic guide to Wellness”, is available in hard cover, paperback and eBook from both Amazon and Barnes and Noble. The eBook is my favorite because it lets me set bookmarks and highlight information. There are over 200 references in the book. This is a great start to doing your own search on health. I have enjoyed the years of doing this BLOG and thank the thousands of readers I have. It is time to move on to other projects. I am still doing my travel in Europe BLOG for those planning a trip. Good health to all my readers. Don’t believe the TV commercials, they are designed to sell you processed foods. Get to know your local farm markets. Enjoy your food again.
Dr. Greger says that changing your diet from twice as much meat as vegetable to equal portions slows down progression of cancer. A total vegan diet eliminates the cancer. If you feel you must eat some meat, try to eat less than half the amount of vegetables you consume Animal Protein vs. Plant Protein). If you really want to wipe out cancer’s hold or future hold on your family, go VEGAN! Recently I went for an annual physical and had to fill out a new government form on diet. Asking me if I was vegetarian or vegan. That is exciting news. I don’t know if our government will do anything with this information but they are at least interested in the statistics. Test after test shows that a complete vegan diet will prevent cancer and reverse existing cancers. It also eliminates most of the top 20 killers of Americans (see my book for more information).
In this final part of the series, we ask the question, “Where is evolution taking us?” Scientists have always thought that evolution was strictly a random change to our DNA that changed us forever. Are we changing only by random changes to our DNA? I don’t think so. I believe our epigenetic program can also be changed. Our minds are changing us much faster than evolution ever did. Look at all the artificial parts we make for humans, legs, arms, hearts, etc. If our bodies became more machine, how would that change us? That is the question philosophers ask all the time. I think we are much more than the mere flesh that makes up our bodies. Epigenetics is an amazing part of us. What do we know?
We are made of a community of cells (we have more cells in our bodies than there are animals on the Earth). Each cell is a living organism that makes decisions, reproduces, eats, gets rid of waste and communicates with other cells. This community makes you unique. Where we are going is for the science fiction writers to dream up and the scientists to discover. For sure we have evolved from no cellular organisms to cells, to multicellular creatures, all the way up to humans. This is NOT the end. We are still evolving in new ways. In 1,000 years we won’t recognise ourselves at that time. Evolution is not over, we are not the end product of evolution. We are just a step to the future of mankind. After all Early man could not have imagined modern man.
Epigenetics is the basis of who we are. It plays the human symphony on our genes. In addition it makes each of us unique. It is what causes both health and sickness depending on the environment it is playing in. In my book, “Food for Thought – An Epigenetic Guide to Wellness”, I discuss the various things that affect our epigenetics:
Exercise
Stress
Diet
How we think (positive or negative)
What we believe
The book is available at Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com as hard cover, paper back or eBook. Each of us should make an effort to exercise more . Walking is a great exercise. It does;t have to be super hard exercise to benefit you. Lower the stress in our lives by not worrying about the things we can’t change and changing what we can. We all need to change our diet. SAD (Standard American Diet) is NOT working. We eat too many fatty, fried and sugary and salty foods. Be determined to eat more vegetables. Cut back on animal protein consumption (eggs, meat, milk and cheese). Eat less salt and sugar (substitute fruit instead). Train yourself to be a positive thinker. Surround yourself with other positive thinkers. Believe in yourself. YOU CAN DO IT! YOU MUST DO IT, if you want to remain healthy. Stop reading about it, stop thinking about it and DO IT! It’s your life and only you are responsible for it.
My book, Food for Thought, takes you through an introduction to epigenetics and genetics. How we evolved these systems and how our environment affects epigenetics. By environment, I mean the food we eat, what we breathe, how we think and what we believe in. Most of us know if we smoke we have a high probability of getting lung cancer. Most of us also know if we are exposed to radiation we can also develop cancer. But few people realize how important the food we eat is. We think more about the fuel we put in our cars than what we put into our bodies. Food breaks down into energy, sugars (which set off many different epigenetic reactions), nutrients needed by the cell and minerals needed. If we are not getting the proper amounts of these, our cells can not function properly.
How we think and what we believe also affects who we are. We have all heard stories of a person on deaths bed, the doctors can do nothing to help. Then they suddenly are cured completely. Our minds are very powerful instruments. If you think positive and feel you are healthy, happy and well, you will be. If you, on the other hand, feel you will get a disease and die. You most likely will. What do you eat? how do you think and What do you believe? These may be the three most important questions you can ask yourself.
Eat healthy, think positive and believe in yourself. My book today (eBook) is for sale on Barns and Noble for $8.49 and Amazon for $3.03. Search for “Febish”.
One in every eight woman will be diagnosed with breast cancer. That is sad but the really sad thing is it can be prevented with a dietary change. Dr Greger says that broccoli, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and other plant-based foods can reduce the risk. He says new studies show a link between cholesterol and breast cancer. The cholesterol fat feeds the cancer and allows it to grow. the study shows a 17% increase in cancer risk for women with cholesterol over 240 as opposed to those under 160. This may be why cholesterol drops in cancer patients. The cancer is eating it up.
Eggs are a major source of cholesterol and fat. All animal protein foods contain this as well (cheese, milk, meat and butter). We have reported on studies that show meat can turn ON/OFF cancer (The China Study and others see my book). Once cancer is turned ON, cholesterol and fat feed it. This allows it to grow rapidly out of control. Feed your body correctly and you will enjoy good health!
Friday, I posted a very important video from Dr. Lipton on how our cells are intelligent. They communicate with each other, reproduce, respond to stimuli, take in nutrients and get rid of waste. He discussed the fact that the nucleus with our DNA was NOT the brain of the cell but a database of blueprints to build things needed by the cells. The brain was external to the cell, the environment. It stimulates our cells in good and bad ways. Nutrients cause the cells to move toward the nutrients while toxins cause the cell to move away. Genes are turned ON/OFF by different stimuli from the environment. Cancer genes gets turned ON (epigenetics) because of things in our environment like poor diet & exercise, toxins and negative thinking. We are creatures made up of all the living cells in our bodies. They are trying to react to the various stimuli in our environment. Sometimes this causes a break down in control; resulting in disease. Sometimes our bodies overcome negativity and take in positive thinking and good nutrients and survives disease free.
We are amazing creatures designed to evolve with our planet. We are changing all the time but it takes time for the cells to catch up to major environmental changes. In the last few hundred years we have increased toxins, poor nutrients, introduction of toxins in our food supply and stress in our lives. All of this is overwhelming our cells. This causes diseases like cancer, heart disease, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, dementia, COPD and many other chronic diseases. Many times these diseases lead to premature death.
You can reverse this by changing your lifestyle! Eat better (non processed whole organic foods and less animal products), exercise more, think more positive and lower the stress on yourself. For more information see my book “Food for Thought”!
Belief actually switches on genes in our body that makes life changes! Dr. Lipton says knowledge is power. Lack of knowledge results in lack of power. Our genes do NOT control our lives. They don’t cause cancer or disease in our bodies. We cause disease in what we eat and what we believe! Dr. Lipton shows that the nucleus of our cells (which contain the genes) are not the command center of the cell as previously thought. He has removed the nucleus from cells and they continue to function normally. If you remove the brain from any living thing it dies! So the nucleus can not be in control of the cell.
We are a machine built of proteins. The proteins change shape (move) based on signals in our bodies. Movement is a basis of life! Our behavior is movement of a protein by a signal. The brain of the cell is the collection of signals acting on the cell. These signals cause changes or work within the cell. The nucleus is simply the repository of blue prints to build new cell parts. The environment (sound, sunshine, heat, food, thought, hormones, etc) cause the cells to do different things. If we cut off the environment the cell will have nothing to do. This is known as perception.
Genes associated with cancer need to be activated by the environment! The environment caused the cancer NOT THE GENE! Genes do not gives us cancer or disease. Perception (the environment does! Change your perception and you can change your cancer or disease. You are in control! What signal in your life activated a gene that was inactive for 35 years and gave you cancer?
Conventional biology textbooks have said that DNA goes to RNA which builds proteins that do things. In this view DNA is in control! But it is wrong! The Environment sends a protein signal to DNA that allows it to be read into RNA which builds the proteins that do things in our cells. So the environment controls our cells! This is known as epigenetics!
The environment can also change your genes called adaptive mutation. If you enter a stressful environment and don’t have the genes to deal with it, we modify our genes! If you place yourself in stressful environments all the time, your genes are re-written to adapt to stress. This can cause negative things to happen in your body. Move yourself out of the stress and you return to normal genes.
Cells are either in growth (positive) or in protection (negative). They can not be in both at the same time. If you are always in protection mode you are not growing and diseases will occur. Stress cuts off our immune system (it’s not needed if we are being chased by a lion). The strongest growth influence is not nutrients but LOVE!
First I am back! We moved and I have been spending all my time packing and unpacking but its over and I am back to my BLOGs!
Cancer is a concern to all of us. In my BLOG and book, I focus on foods that prevent cancer and can even cure it if you already have it. Spices have been used as remedies for ages. Some spices have near miraculous healing powers. Tumeric used in many Indian dishes is one such spice. It comes from Curcumin. Dr Greger says, Curcumin has the ability to stop cancer at all of its stages (transformation, tumor formation, proliferation, tumor growth, invasion and metastasis). He also says this spice can help even before carcinogens get to our cells.
My belief is nature is very complex and has evolved plants and animals in parallel. All animal based life require nutrients and antioxidants from the plant world. Plants seem to have great abilities to help us prevent diseases and cure them if we do get sick. We really do need to eat more vegetables & fruits. Many people say they don’t like the taste but it is usually how they are cooked. Try experimenting with different types and cook them only slightly. This give a nice crunch to your vegetables. After eating more your taste buds will adjust and enjoy them more and more.
Eating well makes us more energetic, we enjoy better sex, we are healthier, slim us down and sleep better. Isn’t that worth a revisit to plants?
