Why eat less meat?

From my last blog post (here) I figured out that one of our main contributors to greenhouse gases was from livestock: meat and dairy. So this post will look at how to reduce meat without negatively affecting nutrition.

What are the alternatives?

From ‘The Australian Guide to Healthy Eating’ (AGHE), the food group ‘Meats and Alternatives’, provides a good list of foods that are very similar in nutrition to meat, being good sources of protein, iron and zinc.

The AGHE recommends about 2.5 serves a day, depending on age and gender.
