Caffeine appears to help symptoms of the disease while diary and animal fat seems to make it worse. Dr. Greger says Plant based diet, especially vegan diet helps by increasing fiber and reduced animal protein diet. If only we could get scientists to do an exhaustive study of the benefits of a vegan diet, we would see conclusively that it helps prevent many diseases and may actually reverse the disease in those already inflicted. The drug companies won’t allow this since they are the main employer of research scientists. Imagine the money lost if we could cure ourselves on diet only and not the billion dollar drug industry.

My name is Deborah J. Jeffries from Stamford, CT USA am 45 years old, have Parkinson’s Disease and an activist for better pharmaceutical treatment options for the afflicted. I’ve had the disease for almost 9 years. I respect your opinions but mine come directly from having the disease. I don’t believe that a change in diet, taking herbs, smoking herb or eliminating animal products can cure, prevent or have any effect on this disease. The disease is so complex and different for every patient, I don’t believe a cure is possible. I also read about patients who choose to go without medication. I can’t speak for them, but if it weren’t for my 3 times a day Mirapex, I would be unable to walk. Pharmaceuticals are necessary given the crippling nature of the disorder. I advocate for more research and development of medications that can slow our disease process down.

I am not saying to stop your medication but changing lifestyle (diet and thinking)_ can help more than drugs alone.
