Studies have been done comparing high protein eaters with lower protein eaters and no significant difference in IGF 1 levels were detected. But when they broke out the types of protein, animal vs. plant, they found animal protein raised IGF 1 levels while plant protein lowered the levels. Dr Greger says getting high levels of IGF 1 tells our livers to start building. Unfortunately tumors are the result. We don’t really want excessive growth (as adults). We want to maintain our growth. Eating meat will increase these growth hormones and eating plants will decrease the levels. Choose wisely.

Studies have also shown that animal proteins are way better than any other sources of proteins. I also would like to know if IGF 1 can really provide the best results.

It’s actually not true. That thinking came about because animals we eat are vegetarian. They get all 9 essential amino acids and we get that through them. Eating plant protein gives some of the 9 but vegetarians eat a variety of plants and get all 9. Harvard has studied if it’s better all together or individually and found no difference. In light of the CDC study proving a vegetarian diet reduces or cures all diseases I would still avoid meat. See video tab of my BLOG dr Greger reports on CDC study. Dr Dean Ornish Clinton’s White House Dr has reversed diabetes in ten of thousands of people via plant based protein. He has cured cancer and heart disease as well using this kind of diet. The actual proof out there disputes meat is good for you. Biologists know we are not carnivorous our saliva, stomach acids and colon length are that of vegetarians.
I am not trying to convince you to not eat meat! Eat what ever you want. But for people suffering I have seen so many helped by a vegetarian diet.
