One question in ALS research is why upper and lower motor neurons are destroyed for a muscle group. Biologists are looking into the possibility that the muscle triggers and epigenetic reaction that silences or kills the motor neurons. If this is proven, my question would be, “What caused this epigenetic trigger?” Is it reversible? ALS is a horrible disease that is epigenetic related. Hopefully science will determine the causes of these triggers so we can make changes in our lives to prevent them.
