My good friend David sent this article on the history of soybeans. They have been around for a long time. They provide healthy nutrition, protein and are good in so many different kinds of recipes. Search the web for soybeans and try different ones. People enjoy veggie-burgers made from soy, humus, soy milk as a healthy alternative to cow’s milk, and many more. Try different things and enjoy new foods that are really healthy.

The following is breaking news from Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) and is a most read for everyone:

Eggs Harmful to Health

Eggs increase the risk for heart disease and diabetes, according to a new meta-analysis published in Atherosclerosis. Researchers reviewed 14 studies and found that those who consumed the most eggs had a 19 and 68 percent increased risk for developing cardiovascular disease and diabetes, respectively, compared with those who ate the fewest eggs. For those who already had diabetes, the risk for developing heart disease from eating the most eggs jumped to 83 percent.

Sickness is America’s most Profitable Business!

'In Sickness and Health' Oil on canvas

The sickness business is booming. Gross revenues look like annual budgets of medium size countries. Profits are up. Just stop and think about the drug companies. Their products have horrible side effects yet they still spend millions to advertise them. Why? because if people die, it doesn’t matter. There are always new kids growing up to buy the drugs. Hospitals are cropping up everywhere. Medical centers are like McDonald’s on each street corner. Our health care system is costing way too much and it will break at some point.

It is sad when we look at the research I have BLOGged about and understand that health can be improved cheaply and safely by changing our diet, exercising, meditating and thinking positive. You will never see anyone advertise this on national TV. Why? because there is no money in being healthy only in being sick. Imagine a large percentage of our great country suddenly got healthy. The trillion-dollar medical & drug system would lose all that. Do you really think they want that to happen?

These Strange Times Require you to Research Carefully!

I found out from a dear friend that whom fought breast cancer. The first doctor and hospital had her go through chemo for months. Later she switched doctors and found out she should never have had the chemo. It was totally ineffective on her type of cancer. When she questioned the original doctor, he said “That’s water under the dam. Everyone gets the same treatment”. Our hospitals are more interested in the money your treatment can generate than your feelings and health. Research research research! You have to take care of your own health and treatments. You are the only one looking out for your well-being. Question everything, get second and third opinions, research treatments and doctors.

Have you ever asked yourself why we eat or drink certain things? I have spoken, in this BLOG, about the problems associated with drinking milk. We are the only mammal that drinks the milk of another mammal on a regular basis. We are the only mammal that drinks milk beyond a young age. Think about early man and woman. Walking across a field with cows and one says to the other, “I wonder what the taste of that animals insides is like”. Maybe they were thirsty and saw young cows drinking from the mother. It is weird to fast forward to today and see every store with cow’s milk in it. We call it a staple as if it were needed for life. When in fact it causes cancer, allergies and a slew of other illnesses. Don’t even get me started on snails!

Jackie, this one is for you…

When I used to eat hamburgers, it really wasn’t the meat that made a great burger! It was what you put on it. Pickles, onions (or fried onions), tomato, lettuce, avocado, etc. The combination of flavors created a great sensation. With veggie burgers it’s the same. Build your burger your way and let those great flavors mesh. Many restaurants now offer a veggie burger replacement to meat on any of their burgers. You can get one loaded with what you love. Making your own veggie burger let’s you know exactly what’s in it. Made fresh with fresh ingredients tastes the best. Angie’s Grapevine is a BLOG that has a recipe for a veggie burger, try it!

Light and its Effects on our Health!

The Therapy Book had another great BLOG on how light affects us.  The BLOG says, “A 2001 study revealed that sleep deprivation could lead to insulin resistance, a risk factor for the development of adult onset diabetes. A 2002 study showed chronic sleep deprivation could decrease immune function and make a person more susceptible to infection.” “high levels of cortisol and its precursor, adrenocorticotropic hormone” can lead to stress and lower our immune systems response. Hormones are epigenetic triggers. They trigger genes in each cell that respond to the stimulus. Sometimes this response is good and healthy and sometimes it’s bad and unhealthy. Our bodies are not trying to make us unhealthy only react to our environment.

The Therapy Book BLOG ran a great article on eating healthy fruits and vegetables that come in a rainbow of colors. We know dark-colored plants are great for us but variety is key. Eat a wide variety of plant-based foods and reap the health benefits. Most diseases are caused by our immune system being unable to fight the disease. Multi-colored plant-based foods helps to build our immune system up and strengthen our ability to avoid diseases.

Alcohol & Breast Cancer

Dr Greger says a new study finds all alcohol intake is carcinogenic.  It seems something in our saliva turns alcohol into a carcinogenic. Less than a drink a day can increase the risk of breast cancer. One study finds a sip held in the mouth and spit out increases the risk. Watch products you use that have alcohol in them. Alcohol, in small quantities does lower the risk of heart disease. So do we take some and reap the benefits to our heart or the risks to breasts? A healthy plant-based diet almost eliminates the risks and greatly improves the benefits. Watch what you eat.

I recently ran across a BLOG, that tells you interesting things about the foods you eat and what you can substitute for a healthy diet. My BLOG looks at things we do in life that can positively or negatively affect our health through the new science of epigenetics. These influences are diet, belief, stress, exercise and thinking. If you are a positive thinker that eats healthy and exercises, you are probably very healthy. The Who Kew About Food BLOG can help you get a better perspective on healthy eating.
