Meat (Photo credit: Divine Harvester)
Dr Greger says smoked meats, cooked meats, cigarettes all have mutated genes that are carcinogenic. These mutations can not only cause cancer but can cause it to grow faster! A new study shows this is actually happening in the breasts of meat-eating women. One women in study was vegetarian and none were detected in her.

Chicken Salad (Photo credit: DaveOnFlickr)
I BLOGed about Beyond Meats meat-less chicken strips. They recently placed their products into a large number of Whole Food Supermarkets. Whole Foods is using this product in their prepared foods area as an alternative to meat. It is a vegan product that looks, tastes and feels like real chicken. I tried a barbecued one, chicken salad, and a spice Thai one. They were all fantastic. I bought several boxes of the product and will have some for Thanksgiving and will experiment on preparing it in popular chicken dishes. More to come on this …

Yes it does! A new company called Beyond Meat, is making a chicken substitute for vegetarians and vegans. In their tests this product fooled many meat eaters. I have not personally tried it yet because it is not sold in my area yet. Whole Foods is selling it in their California stores to start. Keep an eye out for this product.

How many times have you given in to your kids and given them fried chicken and French fries or a hamburger so you don’t have to listen to complaints? Our life is stressful enough, we don’t need to hear our kids constantly complain about what they are eating. It so ease to say “They will only eat …”. We are parents and therefore our kids teachers. We should be teaching them what they should be eating to remain healthy. If we give in to their desires, we could be making them unhealthy and sickly. Be a parent and teach! It may not be the easiest road but it’s the right one!
